Howlers And Growlers Information

Tucked into a quiet stretch of Grosse Pointe Park, Howlers And Growlers feels like the kind of neighborhood spot you stumble into once and then keep coming back to. The vibe hits you right away-casual, welcoming, and just lively enough without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where the staff greets regulars by name, and newcomers are made to feel like they’ve been coming for years.

The menu leans into classic comfort food with a playful twist, and it pairs naturally with their strong selection of craft beers and rotating taps. Burgers are clearly a highlight here, cooked to order and stacked with toppings that don’t feel overthought but still bring something extra to the table. One visit included a juicy bacon cheeseburger with a perfectly toasted bun and a side of crispy fries that actually held their crunch from first bite to last. There’s also a solid lineup of sandwiches, shareable appetizers, and bar-style favorites that make it easy to build a meal whether you’re just snacking or settling in for dinner.

What stands out beyond the food is how well the place balances being a laid-back bar and a reliable diner-style restaurant. The beer selection deserves a mention on its own-local brews, seasonal picks, and a few surprises on tap that rotate often enough to keep things interesting. It’s clear they care about variety, and the staff usually has a recommendation ready if you’re undecided.

The location at 15222 Charlevoix St works in its favor, especially for locals looking for a relaxed hangout spot without heading into the busier parts of the city. Parking is generally manageable, and the surrounding neighborhood adds to the easygoing feel. Reviews from regulars often point out the consistency, which is something you don’t always find in places that try to do both food and drinks well.

Service is another strong point, with servers who check in just enough without hovering. Even during busier evenings, the pace feels steady rather than rushed. While it may not aim for fine dining, that’s never the point here. Howlers And Growlers succeeds by delivering a dependable, enjoyable experience-good food, good drinks, and a setting that makes you want to stay a little longer than planned.

What People's Say About Place

I love visiting a brewery with a lot of variety of beers. They also had a good amount of sour beers, which I also love. They had games to play, tvs to watch sports and a little patio area if you prefer to enjoy the outdoors. They had a decent amount of food and the fries were amazing, but I'd definitely go back for the beer! The service was great, everyone was super friendly.

Had the time of my life. Had the best burger I’ve had in a while, no time for pictures. Bartenders were friendly and high level of service, offering suggestions on types of beers which were all very tasty. Definitely a must try.

I love their rotating beer selection, and they even tell you how much of that beer they have in stock. Very good food. Coloring books and board games available for kiddos if you need a distraction while waiting for food. Very friendly staff, the best out there.

Hailey and Claire are the best. We love all the staff but the girls always recognize us and recommend good beers we would be into. Love it for their $8 burgers on Mondays!!

Stopped by for the live entertainment which was very good. No extra cover and the food was good. I had the Impossible Burger and it was good. A good burger bar that also serves brunch. Nice neighborhood, good service, & a outside dining area. Check it out and I think you will agree. Worth a return trip for sure!

My wife and I tried this place out a few years ago have been going back a couple times a month since. The food is solid and they have a great variety of beers on tap. I’d say the vibes are immaculate, especially on Lions game days. It’s very kid-friendly, and they seem to regularly host events like karaoke night and “bring your own record Wednesdays”. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming, and the service is fantastic. I try to recommend it to friends and bring them along whenever I get the chance.

The perfect GPP watering hole. Dave and staff are incredible. When you arrive you are greeted immediately, service is quick and consistent, and the food is terrific. We adore this place and people there -- it's a neighborhood gem.

So normally the pictures come before bites have been taken. Not this time. I had the standard burger with an egg and my wife had the grilled cheese. My wife loved the fries. Yes, the fries. She said they are the perfect blend of crispy outside and soft warm inside. It wasn't busy when we went on a Thursday night. Very mellow vibe with cool industrial look. Lots of choices for beer on tap. You will definitely find one you like.
